Terms and Vocabulary

- AMV - An acronym for "Anime Music Video", usually depicting clips and/or screenshots of an anime backed to music. A synonym of MAD but the term AMV is more common in English-speaking
spaces.
- Bakurae - Plural form of Bakura, a fanmade term.
- Bishounen - A japanese term for a beautiful boy, usually youthful and androgynous.
- Egyptian Cards - Refers to the monsters Obelisk, Osiris/Slifer, and Ra. I do not feel comfortable referring to the canon title for them.
- Hikari - The japanese word for "light", which is a fanmade term for the hosts of the series. It is usually used in English-speaking spaces and refers to the characters Yugi Mutou,
Bakura Ryou, and Marik Ishtar.
- MAD - An acronym for "Music Anime Douga", (with douga being the Japanese word for video), usually depicting clips and/or screenshots of an anime backed to music.
A synonym of AMV but the term MAD is more common in Japanese-speaking spaces.
- Omote - The japanese word for "surface" or "mask" or "exterior', which is term for the hosts of the series. It is usually used in Japanese-speaking spaces and refers to the characters
Yugi Mutou, Bakura Ryou, and Marik Ishtar.
- Season 0 - The anime that came out prior to Yugioh Duel Monsters, known as just "Yu-Gi-Oh!" in the west. It was aired in 1998 by Toei and it covered the early managa, all the way to
chapter 59
- Yami - The japanese word for "dark", which is used to refer to a darker other self. It refers to the characers Yami Yugi, Yami Bakura, and Yami Marik.
