With this shrine set to debut soon, I'd like to talk about how I've come to love Bakura this dearly to the point of making an entire site dedicated to him, (aside from the fact I may be a tad addicted to html.) Intially, Bakura wasn't my favorite character. Which may sound surprising but considering his lack of screentime, it was hard to remember he existed. When I first saw him during the Duelist Kingdom arc, I was immediately intrigued. Like 'ooh mysterious white haired boy, tell me more!' But sadly, Bakura remained a mystery to me as I didn't grasp his character. Which isn't entirely my fault due to the anime cutting out an unacceptable amount of his backstory and scenes.
It wasn't until Battle City where I started to pay attention to him, especially his yami. The duel between Yami Malik and Yami Bakura (and Malik) has got to be my favorite duel in the entire show and I desperately want a DVD of those episodes. Though he sadly faded from memory once again after THREE filler arcs not containing him or his prescence, four arcs total if the finals count as their own arc, I'm not sure. Point is, Bakura was GONE for like a hundred episodes! How could they do that to him?! But anyways, heres the meat of this story and how Bakura became my favorite character.
Introducing, the memory world arc! I was having a particularly bad day when I sat down to watch episode 190 (don't remember why lol), and WOW that new opening made me completely forget why! I vaguely knew of TKB but seeing him with the shot of Diabound, as well as the shot with him and Yami Bakura made my heart beat a million times per second! I'm getting excited just writing this... And the scene with Ryou in the church? And the scream at the end? AMAZING! This episode alone was enough for him to become my favorite character for good. And it just got better and better from there. Even if the animation is a bit off, the memory world arc is my favorite arc and I got soooo many good Bakura moments, (sadly not much Ryou.) And then when I finally stepped foot in the fandom, (because I'm nervous to join any fandom seriously without watching/reading the whole media), I was then treated to the best fanon interpretations of Bakura and the most beautiful fanart and fanfiction! Seriously, the Yugioh fandom is one of the most kind and talented fandoms I've ever been apart of and I'm staying here for as long as I can. FANDOMS LIKE THIS ARE SO RARE SAVOR THEM WHILE YOU CAN!
